The end of this stupid heat wave
The last of summer is upon us, and today is the last 7:30 p.m. sunset we’ll see for the season until 2027. From the looks of it, everyone is ready for fall too. There’s nothing quite like leaf peeping at Guenella Pass and drinking fall-flavored drinks to ring in the spooky season. We can expect to see fall weather hit the city around the fall equinox on September 22.
2nd Annual Aspen Literary Festival
In case you haven’t read Colin’s article on the Aspen Literary Festival, now’s your chance. A quick synopsis in the meantime: this is the event’s second year and it has been described as part bookstore, part dinner party where festival goers will be able to meet their favorite authors and discover new ones through panel discussions, pop-up booksellers, parties, author talks and more. The festival runs from September 25 through 27 and offers both free and paid admission tickets for all experiences.

The opening of Soda Club
Occupying the former Super Mega Bien space, Soda Club opens its doors today, bringing exciting Italian-influenced cuisine and an extensive wine list to The Ramble Hotel. The restaurant first made its way to Denver from New York City and features dishes from executive chef Amira Gharib, like tortellini with puttanesca, confit tomato, garlic chips, and castelvetrano. A place meant to lose track of time and be surrounded by good food. Given how quickly new restaurants get hyped in Denver, you may want to make a reservation in advance; everything we’ve heard so far about this place has been good.
Celebrating that we can start measuring The Dive’s age in seasons, not just months
Did you know Dive was just a brain child a year ago this month? The team spent hours formulating what we wanted this magazine to be when we launched and we couldn’t be happier and more grateful to those of you who choose to return to week after week–and now, we can finally say for after four months that we’ve continued on our mission to have human powered stories about the people who shape Denver in all the big and small ways. So, a big thank you to the readers and we’re not going anywhere anytime soon.

Pumpkin spice everything
Starbucks re-released its PSL on August 25, and you know what that means? The best season is upon us. Grab your coziest flannels and hit the town as Denver bars, cafes and restaurants curate some of the best fall-flavored treats, from pumpkin-flavored beer at The Odyssey Beerwerks to the spooky yet sweet Jason Smore-hees cold brew at Scr3am & Sugar and Cinnamon Girl ice cream from Fat Batter on South Broadway.
A month full of Denver music that she’s been looking forward to for a long while

Crisp morning dog walks
Fall hits Colorado on September 22, and for all our spooky season folks, that means crisp mornings and sweater weather. Especially good for those of us with furry friends who have been trying to schedule around the 100-degree weather days we’ve had all summer. If you’re looking for some of the best walking trails for fall colors within an hour of Denver that are also dog-friendly, check out: Meyer Ranch Park Loop, Lair o’ the Bear Park, Kenosha Pass, Eagle’s View Trail, Tenderfoot Trail and Raccoon Trail. Always remember water, proper gear and leave no trace.

Amazing stretch of Fillmore shows
Since 1999, the Fillmore has been delivering high vibes and insane beats to Colfax, and this month is no exception: 9/22 Isaiah Rashad, 9/24 Erykah Badu and 9/29 Esdeekid. With these three headliners, there’s no excuse not to hit up a show. Some things to know before you go: the venue is cashless, so be sure to bring your card; doors generally open an hour before showtime; and all ticketing is done through your phone, so make sure it’s charged up by the time you get to the door.
domi x ESP HiFi collab pasta omakase and listening party
If you’ve never had the pasta omakase from Michelin Chef Matthew Drazick at domi or the atmospheric Japanese listening experience at ESP HiFi in the Santa Fe Arts District, this is your sign to try both. The collaboration is a walk-in-only experience on September 17, featuring pasta dishes from domi informed by Drazick’s experiences in Italy and beats from ESP. Avalanche season opening game at Ball Arena vs the LA Kings
The Avalanche take on the Kings at 8 p.m. on September 30 at Ball Arena for its first-ever home opening game. Since last year’s disappointing loss against the Golden Knights, the Avs are back and better than ever. Did you know that Cale Makar is the highest-paid player in NHL history after signing an eight-year $163.2 million contract extension in late August of this year? Put on your best jersey, paint on burgundy, blue or silver face paint and cheer on the team that has won every time its reached the Stanley Cup finals.
Fall equinox
(Note from Evan: Thank god because summer has been miserably hot, but who knows if we’ll even get fall. Thank global warming.) With that in mind, it seems that everyone on the Dive team is ready for some fall weather soon. At least we’re already getting our flannels and sweaters ready over here. Since we experienced such a dry summer, don’t forget to keep up with Denver’s current water restrictions, which include a ban on all lawn sprinklers starting October 1. Until then, hang in there and we’ll see fall come around September 22.
Bark at the Park for the Rockies
While not a baseball guy himself, Evan is a dog dad, and a stadium full of dogs has always seemed magical. Indeed, it is. One of Coors Field‘s friendliest events, Bark at the Park takes place on September 22 and 23 at 6:40 p.m., featuring a pregame parade, a goody bag with merch and a portion of the ticket proceeds going to a local animal rescue foundation. Please note that the stadium requires one “owner” per dog, so be sure to have someone else join you if you have more than one dog. Human tickets go for $27-$53, and dog tickets are $7. Losing her tattoo virginity at Korl Tattoo Shop
Denver is not shy about sporting some incredible ink, and she will be joining the ranks this month. She is getting her first, or should she say, her first two tattoos from guest artist @nobodytattoo at Korl Tattoo Shop. Korl opened its doors in 2025, created by artist Nikolay Kibkalo, and is located on Santa Fe Drive, offering large-scale, color-driven pieces made to move with you. Since its opening, the shop has expanded to include six additional artists and periodically hosts guest artists from across the country, so be sure to keep an eye out — your favorite artist might be stopping in Denver…
Afternoon Tea at The Brown Palace
The Brown Palace Hotel is Denver’s longest-running hotel and for good reason. Besides the poignant shape of the architecture that covers its Broadway and Tremont blocks to the iconic 8-story atrium with stained glass ceilings. Its granite and sandstone walls have seen the likes of silver miners, US presidents such as Eisenhower, and bands such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The hotel’s Afternoon Tea is just one example of how the establishment upholds its timelessness through experiences in the heart of the building Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. If tea isn’t your thing, opt for its Atrium Cocktail session from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday with live jazz on Friday and Saturday.
Four Tet at Mission Ballroom
On September 24, Four Tet will return to Denver for the third time at Mission Ballroom at 8 p.m.. The English electronic artist Kieran Hebden is best known for his experimental but blissfully sounding beats designed to get you moving. What’s more fun than dancing under the massive LED disco ball at Mission? All show information, including tickets, can be found here.
Catching up with childhood friends over happy hour at Temaki Den
It’s always an occasion when friends who don’t live in Denver anymore come to visit. Located in The Source Hotel, Temaki Den is one of those perfect places for gathering — part haven, part culinary experiment where the boundary between fine dining and casual eatery comes together. Suppose that’s why it earned a spot on the Michelin Guide in 2023. Its happy hour runs from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, where you can enjoy specialty handrolls, small bites from the grill, sashimi, a plethora of sake, beer and wine and more. Just be sure to get there early if you plan to walk in at the bar.

Phish at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park along with all the shows Gen mentioned
Phish takes over North Denver Labor Day weekend from September 4 to 6 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The American rock band has been playing shows since the 80s; it’s no wonder why their music still rings strong today. Its eclectic and experimental sound that blends rock, jazz, bluegrass, funk and more makes it the perfect backdrop for the long weekend ahead. Some quick FAQs to know before you go: the park is a cashless venue; factory-sealed water bottles or empty clear plastic bottles are allowed to enter and be prepared to wait for a while as you leave the parking lot after the show (the venue recommends that you leave at least 30-45 minutes prior to avoid heavy lines).
Making chili in time for fall
Whether it’s red or green, Coloradoans know and love the taste of chili, and Thomas knows fall is the perfect time to put together the perfect batch. All good chili begins with a flavorful base, aromatic spices and a form of acid or sugar, but we all have our secrets. In a land of green chile, here are where some of the best red chili can be found at: Smokin’ Yards BBQ (which features pulled pork and brisket), Tamales By Las Casita off Tejon Street and Denver diner favorite Sam’s No.3.
Seeing his parents in Vail
Less than a two-hour drive from Denver (without traffic), Vail is like visiting a European city without leaving the country. It was intentionally modeled after Zermatt, a Swiss alpine village functioning as a European-style storybook resort. Its distinct architecture is visible from I-70 because of the buildings’ vibrant colors and whimsical designs peaking out from Vail Village, backdropped by the mountain’s ski resort. While you’re visiting, be sure to stop by Pepi‘s for Austrian cuisine, have a date night at La Brasserie or grab a cocktail at Root + Flower.
Getting all the film photos he took over the summer developed
Even though getting film developed these days costs an arm and a leg, we at Dive are proud to know there are still people in the analog game. If you’re thinking about getting into film photography, this is your sign. The CPCA (Colorado Photographic Arts Center) offers classes for photographers of all levels, covering everything from camera basics to zine-making and editing tools. Or if you’re looking to get some of your own film devleoped we recommend Mike’s Camera, Englewood Camera, Not Another Film Lab and The Negative Space.
Taking a class at The River Yoga
We could all use a little zen in our lives, and The River Yoga is the perfect blend of third space and a place to belong. No, it’s not by a literal river, but you will feel like you’re part of it once the class is over. It boasts three locations across Denver in Golden Triangle, Sunnyside and Five Points and offers various classes for all levels, including hot, restorative and sculpt yoga, as well as hot Pilates. It’s been in Denver for over 10 years and won’t be washing away anytime soon, so grab your mat and see for yourself what it’s really like to become one with the flow.

Thrifting pieces to wear from local shops for New York Fashion Week
Our favorite fashionista is taking over the streets of NYC from September 10 to 15, and Denver has just what’s in store for her outfits. From the funky styles at GoodKid Collective (3460 W 32nd Ave.) to the women-and queer-owned Electric Goodies (501 W Colorado Ave.) in Colorado Springs, unbeatable value at arc Thrift Stores and vintage finds at The Common Collective (613 E 13th Ave.). You don’t have to go all the way to NYFW to strut your stuff; even though Denver gets a bad rap for its “Colorado casual” style, someone’s got to hold it down over here, and the world is your runway.

Football Season in Denver
While not an avid Broncos fan herself, Kym looks forward to football season in Denver for the cozy Sunday snacks and the return of Penn State Football (though it also means stressing about the Nittany Lion’s new head coach, Matt Campbell). Plus, she’s not blind to talent like Bo Nix (a trustworthy staple to her 2025 fantasy team). The Broncos take on Denver’s second-favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs (wink wink), in week 1 of the regular season in Kansas City on September 14. While the first game is an away game, that doesn’t mean you can miss the action. Denver bars are no strangers to game day, with brews and food galore and enough flat screens to fill Empower Field. Check out some of our favorites for game day: Tom’s Watch Bar (offers 40oz steins of draft beer), Stoney’s Bar and Grill ($5 Coors Light, house wine and house margaritas during Happy Hour: M-Th 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.), Society Sports and Spirits ($45 game day package: endless wings, fries, and draft beers from 6 p.m. to the final whistle) and DNVR Bar (bottomless mimosas every weekend until 2 p.m.). Costume contest at Oktoberfest
Since 1969, Denver Oktoberfest has been a city staple for celebrating German culture in the Rocky Mountains. Put on your lederhosen and celebrate over two weekends of local brews, stein hoisting, keg bowling, live music, costume contests and more at the intersection of Larimer Street and 21st Street. Weekend 1 runs September 18 through 20, and Weekend 2 runs September 25 through 27. Each day has different hours, so be sure to check before you go (Fridays 3 p.m. – midnight, Saturdays 11 a.m. – midnight and Sundays 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.). Admission is free and you can purchase a VIP ticket for single or 3-day admission with upgrades such as a commemorative Oktoberfest stein, unlimited draft beer and wine plus 2 Jägermeister shots, unlimited food and access to a VIP lounge with yard games, live sports coverage and dedicated restrooms. Since the event draws in thousands of people every year, we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance here.
Getting dill macaroni salad at Leven Deli before the weather cools down
The end of summer is upon us, but thankfully Leven Deli isn’t going anywhere. Whether it’s the macaroni salad with dill or gigantes beans, this neighborhood favorite has become a breakfast and lunch staple since its inception eight years ago. It has two locations: Golden Triangle (123 W 12th Ave.) and Leven Supply in Wash Park (300 E Alameda Ave., #D), each with similar menus and the same high quality you expect from Leven every time. Even though it’s known for its 12-day-aged pastrami, we highly recommend the fennel-braised pork sandwich with pickled onions, garlic aioli and arugula on a sourdough baguette if you’re looking for something new.
